Why hold fire doors open?

Internal fire doors within the Healthcare sector are often held open to increase freedom of access around the building. Wheelchairs and trolleys need regular access throughout the building in line with the DDA and patients feeling isolated or lonely often prefer open doors.

Why wire free Salamander?

Installing traditional wired door holder systems often means major disruption, as well as increased costs. Installing acoustic systems means potential floor damage and false activations.

The Salamander Intelligent Radio Controlled Door Holder system can protect older and vulnerable people from the dangers of the spread of fire and toxic smoke, at the same time as setting them free from the confinement of their rooms.

Benefits

  • Reduces feelings of isolation - Holding doors open allows restriction-free movement through corridors in line with the Disability Discrimination Act to alleviate feelings of loneliness for residents.
  • Helps you stay legal! - All Geofire products meet Category A protection as defined by BS7273 Part 4.
  • Save staff time and costs - Reduce the time needed to monitor residents by increasing visibility around the building, thus significantly reducing ongoing staffing costs.
I heard about the Salamander system about six months before we bought it. We had a mixture of old and new buildings that would have been difficult to have a wired system. We chose Salamander, as it was the only reliable wireless system on the market which is reasonably priced and is easy to configure and install as a retro-fit.

The system is working very well for Hoar Cross Care and the latest software updates has made it even more reliable.
