Why hold fire doors open?

None of us can afford to be complacent when it comes to fire safety, yet many building users are still illegally wedging open their fire doors to increase fresh air flow around stuffy corridors. It is the Facility Manager's responsibility to take appropriate steps to ensure the correct provision is made to protect building users from the spread of toxic gases and fire.

Why wire free Salamander?

Installing traditional wired door holder systems often means major disruption, as well as increased costs. Installing acoustic systems means potential floor damage and false activations.

With the latest Salamander wire free intelligent radio controlled door holder system, Geofire can help ventilate your building at the same time as providing the highest possible level of fire protection.

Benefits

  • Highest level of fire security - All Geofire products meet the most stringent protection measures required at crucial fire exits requiring Category A protection, as defined by BS7273 Part 4.
  • Reduces wear and tear - Holding doors open allows restriction-free movement through corridors in line with the Disability Discrimination Act and prevents damaged edge seals and fire door damage.
  • Save staff time and costs - Reduce the time needed to monitor the building by increasing visibility, thus significantly reducing ongoing staffing costs.
I heard about the Salamander system from a friend who had seen them being used in schools.

We purchased the system purely to improve the ventilation in our corridors, which were unbearably hot - particularly in the Summer!

The product adapted very well with our existing fire alarm system and was readily available. We are adding additional holders this summer which will result in all our fire doors being on the same system.

It has worked very well and resulted in us being able to reduce the temperature by 10C in places and also improve the flow of air in the communal areas.
